A planned community with its own metro station
Al Furjan is a residential community of about 560 hectares in the Jebel Ali area, bordering Jebel Ali Village, with Ibn Battuta Mall, The Gardens and the Expo 2020 site close by. Al Furjan Metro Station sits on the Route 2020 extension of the Red Line. Al Furjan Pavilion, built by Nakheel, has a Spinneys supermarket, a Medicentre clinic and its own car park.
The metro handles the trip to the Red Line stops. A car handles what the line does not: school drop-offs at The Arbor School or Arcadia, an evening visit to the pavilion with children, a weekend drive on Sheikh Zayed Road or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and any trip with luggage or a stroller.
What a car adds to a metro-served community
| Household situation | Plan to compare | Confirm in the quote |
|---|---|---|
| School runs and shopping every day | Monthly, economy or midsize | Monthly kilometres and parking at your villa |
| New arrivals between cars | Weekly, then extend | Named drivers and licence validity |
| Weekend trips with children | SUV or midsize | Child seats and luggage |
| Contract staff on a short assignment | Weekly or monthly | Pickup and return points |
Compact economy cars are cheaper to run and easy to place on community streets. For a family of four with luggage, ask about a midsize or SUV class; premium and luxury cars follow a different mileage schedule from economy, standard and SUV classes.
Monthly plans and kilometres for a family car
For a stay of a month or more, compare a month-long rental plan and ask for the monthly kilometres on your own quote. The published monthly allowance for economy, standard and SUV classes is 2,500 km, with each extra kilometre charged at AED 0.50. Two school runs a day, a commute and a weekend trip add up quickly, so estimate before you decide.
Households that expect to need a car for several years can look at lease-to-own options instead of repeating rentals. Ask us to confirm eligibility and terms in writing.
Delivery to a villa or townhouse
Within Dubai the minimum notice for delivery is four hours; other emirates need 24 hours. Whether your street is covered and what the fee is will be stated in the quote. Send the community, the street and villa number, a map pin and a contact number, and say whether visitor parking is available at the entrance.
If you live a short drive away, readers in the apartments of Discovery Gardens may prefer the Discovery Gardens rental page. Anyone planning to meet someone at the mall can compare the Ibn Battuta Gate car rental page.
School-day timing and parking
Community streets fill at drop-off and pick-up, and the pavilion car park is busiest in the evening. If you rent for the school term, ask your building or community office where a second vehicle can be parked and mention it in your request. Tell us the earliest departure you expect and whether you will need the car at weekends, so we can quote the right plan instead of a flat month you only half use.
For weekend drives, the two big routes out of the area are Sheikh Zayed Road towards Dubai Marina and Downtown and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road towards the outer suburbs. Plan the first and last 20 minutes of any trip around the traffic on those roads, not around the map. If your children’s school or your office has a fixed start time, add a buffer on the first morning, because you will not yet know how the roads behave at that hour.
Handover, returns and fuel
When the car arrives, check each panel with the driver, note any marks and photograph the dashboard. Bring it back with about the fuel level it had at collection. The terms allow no late-return charge for delays of up to 60 minutes, subject to approval, and a delay of more than two hours may be charged as a full rental day, so allow time for the school-run and rush-hour roads.
Age, licence and paperwork
The age floor is 21, with approval and an extra charge possible for drivers under 25. Each driver needs a licence recognised in the UAE for the vehicle and a place in the agreement as a named driver. Tolls are billed as Salik plus a processing fee, and the deposit can cover them. The balance returns within 21 calendar days of the car coming back.
