A small island with a short list of destinations

Bluewaters Island is an artificial island built on reclaimed land about 400 metres off the Jumeirah Beach Residence coastline, near Dubai Marina. It opened in 2018 and combines entertainment, hospitality, residential and retail uses. A pedestrian bridge links it with the JBR waterfront.

Because the island is compact and walkable, a car does not solve every journey here. It solves the ones that start or end somewhere else: the airport run with suitcases, a day trip with children, a meeting across the city or a week of errands from a serviced apartment.

Who rents a car here, and which plan fits

A daily car rental works for a single day out and avoids paying for the days the car would sit in a car park. For a holiday week, a weekly car rental is usually the better comparison. The published terms list 200 km a day and 1,400 km a week for economy, standard and SUV classes, with excess kilometres at AED 0.50 per km. Check the allowance against the longest day you expect.

Family trips and luggage

Families usually need space before they need speed. Compare SUVs when you travel with several suitcases or a pushchair, and look at crossovers when you want height and boot room without a larger vehicle. Child seats are not assumed in the price. Ask for them in your enquiry and confirm availability and cost in the written quote.

If you only need a car for part of the stay

You do not have to rent for the whole trip. If the first days are on the island and the rest of the trip involves driving, start the rental on the day you actually need it and give us that date and time in the enquiry. A shorter, well-timed plan is usually easier to manage than a long one that sits unused.

Planning a holiday week

Write down the days you expect to drive before you ask for a quote. Most holiday plans have two or three long days and several short ones, and the long days decide which kilometre allowance you need. Add the journeys at both ends of the trip, such as the trip to and from the airport, since those are fixed. If your return flight is early, agree the return time with a buffer, because a return after the grace period is charged as a full rental day.

Parking and access checks

Ask your hotel or building about parking before you book: whether guest parking is included, what it costs and where the car will stay overnight. Those costs sit outside the rental quote. If a property has height or access limits, mention the vehicle category you are considering so the property can confirm that it fits. Send your luggage count as well, so we can match the category to the boot space you actually need.

Handover on the island

Tell us the hotel or building, the entrance and a contact number, and send a map pin. Delivery within Dubai needs at least four hours’ notice. Whether your exact address on the island is covered, and the fee, are confirmed in the written quote, so do not assume delivery is included. Ask your hotel or building where a driver can stop for the handover, because arrival areas and parking rules differ between properties.

Moving between Bluewaters, JBR and the Marina

For most visitors the island, the beachfront and the Marina sit within one small area, and it is easy to confuse which pickup point serves which. Terms to read before you pay

At handover, record the fuel level and odometer, photograph existing marks and keep the photographs. Fuel is returned at about the level you collected. Salik is charged at the actual toll plus an administration fee and can be settled from the deposit, which is refunded within 21 calendar days after fines and other charges are cleared. A return after the grace period is charged as a full rental day, so allow a buffer if you have a flight.

Drivers aged 21 to under 25 may be accepted subject to approval and additional charges, and drivers under 21 cannot rent. Rentals stay within the UAE unless authorised in writing.
