Al Reem Island is a dense, tower-based district a short bridge from Abu Dhabi Island, and most renters here are residents or workers who need a car for a month or more rather than a weekend. The island and its bridges
Area guides put the island about 600 metres off Abu Dhabi Island, covering roughly 8.8 square kilometres. The Umm Yifeenah Bridge opened in February 2023, and guides list further bridges to Saadiyat Island and Al Maryah Island. The island is grouped into districts including Shams Abu Dhabi, Marina Square, Najmat, Makers District and Reem Hills. Reem Mall opened on 30 May 2024, and the island has a hospital, a public park and several international schools. Part of the island has been inside the Abu Dhabi Global Market since April 2023.
What a car changes on an island like this
Everyday errands on the island can be done on foot or by taxi, but trips off it are where a car matters: the office on the mainland, the school in another district, a weekend on Saadiyat. Guides describe the island as having plenty of buildings and limited street parking in busy blocks, so confirm your tower or building offers a parking space before you rent. Ask the quote to state the kilometres so your daily bridge crossings do not catch you out.

A one-month rental includes 2,500 km for economy, standard and SUV classes under the published terms. A week-long plan includes 1,400 km for the same classes. For a single professional the midsize category is a common starting point, but check the card for each model because a category name does not set seats or boot space.
Working on the island
The island has a growing business and creative community, including the Makers District, and many people who work there are on assignments of two to six months. For them, the practical questions are whether the plan covers the drives to meetings on the mainland, whether colleagues can share the car and whether the company or the individual signs the agreement. If the car is for a company, say so in the request and name each driver. Businesses planning vehicles for several years can read about business lease options, which is a separate contract from a rental.
Delivery to a tower or a hotel
If you want the car brought to your building, give the tower name, the block or district, your parking level and a phone number that will be answered. Delivery and collection are separate lines in the terms, so ask the quote to say whether your tower is within the covered area. Outside Dubai, a collection request needs at least 24 hours of notice, so confirm the return time a day ahead. One-way trips between cities appear as a separate charge in the terms.
Rules to read before you collect
The minimum age is 21, and drivers from 21 to under 25 need approval and pay an additional young driver charge. Every driver needs a licence the UAE recognises, and visitors should check whether their own licence or international documentation is accepted. Adding a driver costs a fee, and only named drivers may drive. Bring the car back with about the same fuel it had at handover. Salik and other tolls are billed at cost plus an administration fee. Under the terms, up to 60 minutes of lateness is not charged, subject to approval, whereas more than two hours may be billed as a full day. The deposit balance returns within 21 calendar days.
Long stays and weekend trips
People who rent on the island often compare a rental with a longer contract. If you are likely to keep a car for a year or more, the personal lease page explains a separate contract with its own terms. For a day out, Saadiyat Island is a short drive over a bridge, and a rental stays within the UAE unless Quick Lease approves otherwise in writing.
Check the quote before you pay
A good quote lists the class, the allowance, the deposit, the drivers and any delivery charge. Photograph the car at handover and again at return. If a figure differs from what you heard on the phone, ask for the quote to be corrected first, because you will be comparing the final invoice against that document.
