Deal Details

DTC acquired 100 percent of National Taxi's share capital for a total enterprise value of Dh1.45 billion, funded through new bank debt facilities with no new equity issuance. National Taxi, established in 2000, held licensed taxi concessions from both the RTA in Dubai and the ITC in Abu Dhabi, operating more than 2,700 fleet vehicles and employing 5,163 driver partners at the time of completion.

For the year ended July 2025, National Taxi reported revenue of Dh774 million and EBITDA of Dh183 million, completing 25.4 million trips at a 98 percent fleet utilisation rate — with 77 percent of its fleet comprising electric or hybrid vehicles.

Market Impact

The completed acquisition gives DTC an approximately 59 percent market share in Dubai and establishes a meaningful roughly 12 percent presence in Abu Dhabi, creating what the company describes as a multi-emirate mobility platform. DTC said it would retain the National Taxi brand post-completion while consolidating central functions such as finance.

For UAE businesses and fleet operators, the deal is a clear signal of consolidation in the taxi and ride-hailing sector, with scale increasingly seen as a competitive advantage for fleet utilisation and digital platform integration.
