What was announced
The RZ 500e arrives in a single Platinum AWD specification. Lexus claims 375hp, a 0-100km/h time of 4.6 seconds and up to 460km of range. The ES 500e, the first all-electric version of the long-running executive sedan, pairs a 74.6kWh battery with 338hp and Lexus's DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, with a claimed 465km range.
The new eighth-generation ES is also sold as the ES 350h hybrid, giving buyers a petrol-electric alternative. Lexus said nearly 30,000 ES and ES hybrid cars have reached the UAE since the model's local introduction in 1998.
Range, charging and what is not yet known
The range figures are manufacturer claims. Lexus did not provide a measured UAE summer range at the launch, according to Tbreak's interview with Jacques Brent, Managing Director of Toyota and Lexus UAE at Al-Futtaim. Lexus says the regional RZ has air-conditioning tuning for Middle East conditions, infrared-cut glass and ventilated seats.
A mobile charger comes with the RZ, and wallbox installation can be arranged through Al-Futtaim's Charge2MOOV network. Lexus has also said plug-in hybrids are planned for the UAE in early 2027.
What This Means for UAE Drivers
The launch gives existing Lexus owners an electric option without leaving the brand, and arrives as petrol prices have risen for October. Home or workplace charging access matters most for EV ownership, and Lexus itself noted that a hybrid may suit some commuters better. For fleet and corporate buyers, the single-trim line-up and manufacturer-claimed rather than UAE-tested range are worth weighing before committing.
