New Fuel Rates
Under the revised rates, Super 98 petrol is priced at Dh3.80 per litre, up from Dh3.60 in August. Special 95 petrol rose to Dh3.69 per litre from Dh3.49, while E-Plus petrol increased to Dh3.61 per litre from Dh3.41. Diesel saw the largest increase, rising to Dh4.30 per litre from Dh3.80 the previous month, an increase of 50 fils per litre.
The UAE Fuel Price Committee reviews and adjusts retail fuel prices at the end of each month, based on prevailing trends in global energy markets, under the deregulated fuel pricing system introduced in the UAE in September 2015.
Context: A Volatile Year for UAE Fuel Costs
September's increase continues a volatile year for motorists. Fuel prices had risen sharply earlier in 2026 amid regional instability linked to the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran, before falling back in July as global oil markets eased. Diesel, in particular, has seen wide swings across the year, and the September rate marks one of the higher points recorded in 2026.
The UAE's fuel pricing also comes against the backdrop of the country's decision to exit OPEC and OPEC+, effective May 1, 2026, after six decades of membership, a move that gives the UAE more flexibility to adjust its own oil output independently of the group's production quotas.

For individual motorists, the September increase means a Dh20 rise in the monthly cost of filling a typical 60-litre tank with Super 98, compared with August. For businesses operating vehicle fleets, including logistics companies, delivery services and car rental operators, the diesel increase of 50 fils per litre has a more significant cumulative impact, given diesel's heavier use in commercial vehicles, trucks and buses.
