The three campaigns
The first covers 6,571 vehicles in the EXR, VXR, GXR, GR Sport and Signature ranges built in 2023 and 2024. It concerns possible crankshaft bearing damage from manufacturing debris. Reported symptoms include knocking, rough running, starting problems and, in some cases, an engine stall.
The second covers 7,453 vehicles built between 2021 and 2024. The software controlling the V35A engine may not properly account for the cooling fan's operation, which could affect engine output under some conditions. Al Futtaim will update the software free of charge.
The largest campaign covers 15,750 vehicles and involves the 10-speed automatic transmission. A fault could cause excessive rotational speed, transmission damage, loss of power or fluid leakage, and the leak could increase fire risk. Owners receive repairs at no cost.
What the reports do not say
The three totals add up to 29,774, and all affected vehicles were built in Japan between 2021 and 2024. The reports reviewed do not say whether any vehicle falls under more than one campaign, or how long the repairs will take.
What This Means for UAE Drivers
The Land Cruiser 300 is a widely used SUV in the UAE, so many owners, including fleet and rental operators, may be affected. Owners should check each vehicle's VIN with Al Futtaim, as one car could be flagged for more than one issue. Drivers who notice knocking, rough running or unusual gearbox behaviour should report it to an authorised service centre without waiting for a recall letter.
